Yu-Gi-Oh! Box Buster Preview PLUS Throwback Booster Unveiled
Posted by Yogizilla on August 6, 2011
I’ve been promising a HUGE Box Buster so here’s a preview. I just opened up the
- 1 Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste Tin (1 Stardust Overdrive Booster Pack, 2 Absolute Powerforce Booster Packs, 2 Shining Darkness Booster Packs, 1 Secret Rare “Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste” Card, And 4 Super Rare Cards: “Archfiend of Gilfer”, “The Wicked Dreadroot”, “Dragonic Knight”, and “Dark Armed Dragon”)
- 2 Storm of Ragnarok Booster Packs
- 2 Hidden Arsenal 3 Booster Packs
- 2 Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time Movie Pack
- 1 Rise of Destiny Booster Pack
…The throwback here is the Rise of Destiny booster pack. Now, you may know that I love old-school Yu-Gi-Oh! so coming across a 1st Edition booster pack at a neighborhood store was a pleasant surprise.

Rise Of Destiny SPECIAL EDITION - Available at Yugiohmint.com for an AWESOME price - WHILE SUPPLIES LAST (yeah, there's always a catch)!!
I cracked open the Rise of Destiny pack and was very impressed with all the great cards I got. Here’s what came in one pack:
- Nightmare Penguin
- Roc from the Valley of Haze
- Element Magician
- Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive
- Astral Barrier
- Tactical Espionage Expert
- Ballista of Rampart Smashing
- Mokey Mokey Smackdown
- The Creator Incarnate
One of my favorite Water monsters is Penguin Soldier so when I saw Nightmare Penguin, I was quite pleased. Any card that can return monsters to the opponent’s hand are handy because we all know the peskiest monsters are immune to damage and/or effects that destroy them. In such cases, your choices are limited: nullify damage, take control of the monster, or return it to the hand/deck.
The Rise of Destiny series was one of my favorites from the later Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG releases. I’d say it’s up there with Magic Ruler, Pharaohnic Guardian, and Dark Crisis. Anywho, I’m very excited to share more of what I discovered from opening up the newer booster packs but there are other matters to tend to sooo… Until next time!
What are your favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG throwbacks?
