I have a question, why do we have to pay for duel passes when it took me 3 hours to download and i have broadband.

Well….I guess U have to pay for DPs so Konami can keep profit for other things and other games, or just simply to keep the game runnig but I’m just an affiliate, I really don’t know yet. Sorry guys.

RaYellow brings up a good point! =o)
I know the frustration quite a few players have with Yu-Gi-Oh Online is that the servers are slow and they have the “audacity” to charge for the game. I’d love to see new blood in the game and would hate for the community to lose players because folks have unrealistic expectations. Let’s examine the alternatives to paying for DP:
1) Pay a monthly fee.
2) Pay for cards but have unlimited duels.
3) Keep the game absolutely FREE!
I personally feel that the route Konami is great. You always get a card, win or lose, and people with more money are not necessarily guaranteed better decks. Magic the Gathering takes the second approach by allowing you to sign up for free and buy all the cards you want. You get a $10 coupon, I believe, which you can use to waiver your sign-up fee OR buy some cards. Once you’re signed up, you can duel as much as you want.
The problem with the MTG approach, however, is that it becomes a total turn-off to brand new players when you play long-time duelists that just follow a recipe or have perfected their deck with the most-coveted cards. On YGO, you may run into many recipe users but people have to earn their cards or trade for them. MTG, to me, seems like an elitist-ridden game and really not that much fun. In fact, I know a lot of people that have left the game in favor of YGO… It’s no mere coincidence!
Now, let’s be realistic on the trading stuff. Trading can be very tedious (especially when a lot of the folks do not necessarily have a REAL command of the English language) so, really, the fun is choosing a booster pack and hoping you get a card that you really need for one of your decks. I like the surprise approach myself – it’s like a metaphorical grab bag!
Sure, they can make the game free but then it’d have more bugs. We pay so that they can stay in business, improve things, and prepare for the future of the game. These things take time. I think Konami is going in the right direction. They’ve shown good business sense and loyalty to their fans.
Hope that puts everything into perspective. 8)

As per our FAQ, I want to reiterate a few points that keep coming up in comments and e-mail messages (we get literally hundreds of these inquiries a week):
1. We are one of the few vendors that sell the cards individually.
2. We send codes via e-mail so you do not need to worry about shipping and handling.
3. You need Duel Points (DP) to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Online unless there is a free lobby open.
4. Dueling in a free lobby does not count towards your stats and ranking.
5. We will not send you free codes so please stop requesting them – we’re trying to make a living.
Hope that clears up any misunderstandings. I’d love to give away duel passes as if they were candy but we have to make a living. Our prices are competitive and we do offer a unique product so I think it’s a good bargain. Remember, I’m not only the president, but a customer as well. LOL.. If you get that reference, you’re probably an old fart like me too. ;o)
Cheers and good dueling to all! =oD

Heads-up: since the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Online EVOLUTION (Version 2.0) is out, there is no longer a free practice lobby; furthermore, be wary of scammers promising free DP. These things do not exist – stay tuned for more details! =o]

Once upon a time, I was a whee lad and I knew how it felt to not have money. Back then, I did simple little chores to earn a few bucks here and there. One hour of work and I could earn myself a cool five spot. Those were simple times. Fast forward to today and I am essentially a starving artist but at least money is no THAT tight.
The moral of this story: few people are really THAT broke that they cannot afford a $3-8 expenses. If things are that dire for you, I think you have greater issues to tend to than to get duelpasses.
Please take no offense on this, folks, but I just want to be clear on this since everyone seems to harass the players of this game for freebies. A lot of the Yu-Gi-OH! gamers are living check-by-check but they make the sacrifice to get their weekly or monthly fix. Where there is a will, there is a way.
I mean, if you want to be cheap, be like JT and play via e-mail (the notion is so silly to me LOL). Anywho, so that you see that this is just not commercial interest prevailing (trust me, we resellers make very little off Konami’s product offerings, sadly), check out some of these articles that talk about why being cheap can kill off your favorite games FOREVER:
* http://360.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=9462
* http://www.younewb.com/2007/01/15/in-game-ads-the-good-the-bad-and-the-alternatives/
I have similar articles highlighted on my Digg profile so be sure to check that out as well as my gaming, business, and technology news at http://yogizilla.wordpress.com – trust me, I’d love to give out freebies to everyone but it is just not realistic! I am not the Monopoly man. =oX
In short, if everyone in the world got free stuff, great games would die off, most games would seem alike (more than they already do), and everything would be filled with ads, news, and other junk that usually scare us away. Support your favorite games by putting your money where your mouth is. If you love the game, do the deeds. It’s simple. 8)

Is it possibly to pay via sms???
And why cant we contact those who run yu gi oh online??
When paying we only let the users who is destroying our planet with CO2 do it more.
Yogizilla said
SMS is not one of our options. Sorry. =o(
As for Konami, they are tough to contac and tend to be short in their responses, unfortunately. This is typical for large corporations. I find that most issues can be handled via their FAQ/knowledgebase. If you are looking for something else, good luck. We, one of their top suppliers, try to liason with their PR people and even they are hard to get in touch with sometimes! =oO
I use CO2 with my paintball marker or used to… I use HPA now. Will you forgive me, Rexi?? =oD

hehe okey
But that was sad, because my mother don’t trust using credit card + Internet. And hard is it to me when I can’t get my card back from my mom lol
Sometimes I hate living in Europe. They don’t even have duel pass cards in the store where I live
USA: I wish I could say “Here I come!”. Sadly I cant
Well I have to wait until I’m 18 and moved out from my home. Then I can use Internet at last, and no one can say “No, you can’t”.

Don’t feel down, buddy!
Here in the states, it’s not much better! I have yet to see a traditional retail store that sells Yu-Gi-Oh! Online duelpasses and I live in the so-called Capital of the World, New York City! As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Konami doesn’t give sellers enough incentives to resell their product so it become increasingly more difficult to meet the demand and still turn a profit so that we can make a living off of what we sell.
This is exactly why the online market is perfect. We have less overhead this way and can pass the savings onto our customers. Trust me, I know parents can be tricky: I had the biggest cheapskate of a dad ever. Heck, my father took more money from me than I ever gave him, sadly!
The trick to parents is to give them what they want so that you can get what you want. Mutual exchange – it’s a beautiful thing. Do better in school, do your chores, clean up after yourself, be polite and well-mannered, etc. etc. When you build up enough “brownie points”, you can eventually cash in on them. It’s not always 100% but, well, we all went through the very same humiliating part in our lives then we graduate into something more humiliating called Corporate America. =oP
Enjoy your youth. When you’re young, you want to be older but, once you get old, you wish you be young again. That’s life: every phase has it’s own distinct challenges. Just enjoy the ride dude – you’ll get your YGOO DP soon enough! =oD

About the thing with paying by sms
why is that so hard to make possible
try and think it over, over the half of our civilization have cellphones and if you could make a paysystem over that, then you could earn much more than what you are earning… it’s not that hard, simpler games does the same and accualy… IMVU does it, and it works
Yogizilla said
Well, I can’t speak for Konami and the millions of other people that don’t implement SMS payment but I know I did some research and it is not the most secure method for resellers. Typically, the more convenient and accessible a method becomes, the more it is exploited. We don’t have the infrastructure to do it on our side nor do we make enough profit to make it worthwhile. Would it create new income streams? Perhaps. Most people that complain about the payment options don’t even have credit cards and are not elgible for the many, easy to get, pre-paid cards out there.. So I somehow doubt they have cell phones. Just my two cents on that. I see your logic but, from a business POV, I understand why even a large company like Konami avoids it like the plague. 8)
