CyGames Goes Full-On Retard With Rage Of Bahamut

Posted by Yogizilla on October 1, 2013

It’s time for a classic Yogizilla rant!

Summertime Amelia - Rage of Bahamut

The latest update released for the uber popular Rage of Bahamut game on Mobage proves that CyGames has no clue what they are doing..  and they have possibly gone retarded on us (no offense to those that have actual mental challenges and aren’t just plain stupid).  For me, a guy that happens to love this game in spite of it’s growing pains, it almost seems like they are purposely trying to chase away gamers and lose money – it’s utter madness!

Rage of Bahamut got a significant update that gave the UI (graphical interface) a face-lift and forced annoying features on us while neglecting game mechanics and glaring issues the community has been very vocal about.  On my Android-based Samsung Galaxy tablet, I am unable to exit the game easily and the background music comes back no matter how many times I turn it off.  The foremost issue would be all right if I were able to jump right into the game any time but, instead, it times out and tells me pages are no available.  Enter the force close.

These issues alone have been enough for me to quit other Mobage games but it gets better, I mean, worse.  In an effort to monetize further, Cygames introduced a new currency system in Rage of Bahamut.  This system is overly-complicated and provides real benefit to the users. The system involves tokens, souls, virtue points, card sacrifices, and some other crap.

Thanks but I’ll pass.

Mass Effect 3: Is Disappointment Over The Endings Justified?

Posted by Yogizilla on March 25, 2012

About three weeks ago, just over a week from the official release, Mass Effect 3 posts seemed to pop up on every gaming and tech site possible.  The topic, of course, is the outrage over the disappointing Mass Effect 3 ending.  The discussions all boil down to this:

image

Are we gamers insatiable or was Bioware really lazy here?

Justin Germino of DragonBlogger.com put it all into a good perspective by discussing Five Worse Video Game Endings.  Still, I think core issues have been completely neglected in these discussions.

First and foremost, when one considers that dedicated Mass Effect fans have invested anywhere between 70 to 180 hours of total gameplay throughout the trilogy, you have to wonder, “Was this really worth it?”  I beat Mass Effect 3 about six days after starting it and I must say: I found the missions very satisfying.  Character and plot development alike were very well done, too.

Though I kept my expectations for the ending very low, I expected some sort of closure.  I got that.  What I did not get was an ending worthy of the time invested and all the build-up.  The climax in Mass Effect 3 leaves you hoping there will be at least more DLCs and multiplayer opportunities, if only to keep the addictive gameplay going.

Yes, the ending was disappointing yet it was to be expected.

The Mass Effect 3 Ending Feels Forced

For all the foreshadowing and tragedies that less up to the final moments of the Mass Effect 3 storyline, I can’t help but feel that the ending was forced.  You get a maximum of three possible ending choices and none of them are very satisfying.

The Bioware team did a great job of foreshadowing by making it clear how hopeless and impossible the scenario was..  yet I can’t help but feel that the glimmers of hope were misleading, even after everything goes awry time after time.  I believe Bioware wanted to allow for a truly happy ending but they got themselves stuck and did the only thing they could do: present us with controversial, perhaps incomplete content and let our imaginations do the rest.

I know that by now this horse has been beaten dead but I’m still having a video game hangover due to the severe disappointment here. I almost want all those hours invested back.

Assorted Flavors: Our Web Site Move, Paying By Check, and More!

Posted by Yogizilla on April 5, 2007

Hello all! I have a few assorted updates so get ready…

First and foremost, I have to say that I like the crazy programming Cartoon Network has been doing lately. They followed up Miyazaki’s Spirited Away with a marathon of Perfect Hair Forever, one of the most pointless yet strangely entertaining shows EVER! For our older viewers out there, it features lots of adult inuendo to keep even the biggest deviants happy. LOL… Anywho, what’s up with the new Tom on Toonami? I see lots of people out there searching for information about the recent changes. I can’t say I am a fan personally but it’s cool that he has a whole crew now; I mean, life in outer space would be lonely otherwise!

In other news, we are moving our web site to new servers so there may be some interruption and delay in product delivery. Those that ordered anything this week should be more affected than those that placed orders in previous weeks. We’re working around the clock to get things fixed up so be patient, folks! If you can’t reach us via e-mail, I check our blog much more often now so feel free to use this.

Illiteracy spreads throughout America!

So it seems illiteracy is spreading like wildfire, as the above cartoon depicts. We have received a few checks that are not made out to the right people and, as such, we cannot do anything with them. Please read instructions carefully as it’ll save you time in the long run. If you pay by check or money order, please be sure to make it out to:

Duelpass Shortage: Is The Well THAT Dry?

Posted by Yogizilla on March 20, 2007

We at YDP have received a few messages regarding our recent Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duelpass shortages. Close friends and supporters have been nudging us for quite some time. Well, I assure you that our lack of inventory is not due to a lack of restocking efforts – there really is just that much demand… and the supply is lacking. Really, this metaphorical well has run dry (sorta).

Anyone or anything down there? Hellooooooooo??

That dry well in the desert serves as a perfect metaphor of how barren the distributor network is right now, for the most part. It works like thi: Konami comes out with something new and then they decide that the older stuff doesn’t have market value anymore so they eventually discontinue it. Most of the distributors out there are very small shops with virtually little or no visibility. There may be thousands of such sites, all with their own humble piece of the pie, but they are in their own little worlds. We would like to purchase their stocks, free them of their burdens, and make more Duelpasses available to our customers but, like I said, they are hidden away in some far-off recess of the Internet.

WARNING: Yu-Gi-Oh! Scams, Myths, and Free Duels

Posted by Yogizilla on March 8, 2007

We recently received several messages at YDP regarding people promising free duelpasses and free duels. Some folks have also asked me where to buy Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duelpasses. The response to Konami’s free duel lobby initiative has been tremendous as well. I have tackled a lot of the issues thereof but, just to revisit the core issues here, I’d like to issue a general scam warning and myth debunker.

First and foremost, Yu-Gi-Oh! Online no longer features a free duel lobby at the current point in time. This was a promotion and was meant to be temporary. We do not know if they have plans to bring it back as a seasonal feature or something available to new or low-level players only but, when we do get confirmation on this, we’ll let you all know. For now, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duelpass system has been made much more accessible and affordable so we hope it encourages more new players!

Some sites have promised free duelpasses or unrealistically-good discounts. I have scoured the Net myself both as a customer (before I became a Yu-Gi-Oh! reseller) and a business owner. I have yet to find huge price drops and steady supplies from a reliable business. All the sites promise freebies have been scams aimed at stealing passwords, installing spyware, or doing other malicious things to the systems of their visitors. Be wary of any promises of free duelpasses and the like – those are all SCAMS!
