After a crazy pilot episode, we really get into our groove with the Horseplay Gaming Podcast EPISODE 1. Since we do not follow specific themes or scripts, we talk about everything in the 2 1/2 hours we stream live here but we focus heavily on indie games, the ho-hum next-gen consoles, and, of course, League of Legends.
As we will likely do every week, we discuss the most-played LoL champions. No real shockers here. ADCs dominate the rankings as usual, making it clear that most just want to kill things and teamwork is often an afterthought. Lee Sin is moving up the ranks while staples such as Yi, Caitlyn, Ezreal, and Vayne stay amongst the Top 20 in ranked play.
Personally, I’m surprised Katarina is not higher on the list.. She still pwnz in 5v5.. Unless maybe you play at Diamond or higher tiers. BTW, we also discuss the top skins on League of Legends. Most skins suck but I think these picks are solid.
Preseason 4 has been super exciting and we are stoked to see what Patch 3.15 and beyond will bring. The new champion, Yasou, seems to be a flexible champion who can jungle, top, or support. It also seems that he will be an excellent counter for annoying pokemasters like Caitlyn and Nidalee.
In other news, we discuss the stupidity of big gaming companies shutting down content and enforcing stupid contract clauses. Amongst the moments in derpdom are the LCS debacle and YouTube’s move to shut down video game playthrough videos. WTF?!
I discuss games I am revisiting or planning to revisit.. Plus games I am finally getting around to playing in the Dust Off. Amongst these games is the strangest title I have played in a long time: Insectipede. With all these ballsy indie games and spiritual successors, I am hoping someone remakes Seventh Cross Evolution, previously on the Dreamcast, the greatest console of all time.
Tired of corporate greed and lack of customer appreciation in the gaming industry? We are too. In fact, that is one of our biggest rants in this episode. Come give us a listen!

XBox One and Playstation 4 share space backstage at E3.
People have asked me this question quite a bit:
Which console are you/should I get: XBox One or PS4?
I say neither.. at least for now. I am unimpressed by the launch titles and, really, I barely touch my console these days. Those of you that follow me on Twitch.tv know I prefer streaming a wide variety of PC games, especially bargain bin deals and sweet bundles. As such, I see no need to upgrade any time soon.
The one thing we can agree on is that the Nintendo Wii-U is in a class of it’s own and certainly does not compete directly (it’s like that by design). I am sure we can also agree that the PC offers more for less, too. Thank you, Humble Bundle and Steam.
As far as console gaming goes, I am happy to revive old games and stick to my mainstays such as Black Ops 2, Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, and now GTA V. There are tons of games I can dust off, as well as countless impulse buys in my XBox LIVE arcade library. Speaking of which, add Yogizilla on XBox LIVE and maybe we can stream together. That might just motivate me to get excited about console gaming again.
What cracks me up about this whole next generation is how people are all flocking to PS4 still, citing marked improvements to resolution and gameplay. They also say that Microsoft is invading our privacy and limiting how we access content. I hate to break it to you, fanboys, but Microsoft and Sony are both doing the same stupid things. There is a lot of misinformation, silly emotion, bias, and assumptions, even in the above image.. Shame.
I mean, the PS4 will not even play audio CDs or MP4s. WTF? If I had to choose one, I would go with the XBox One, simply because Microsoft has the better online experience hands-down. This is a fact, not an opinion. Several people have analyzed the infrastructure and come to the same conclusion… Regardless, I will stick to PC gaming for now and recycling old console games.
While people are camping out to get their new so-called next-gen consoles, the rest of us will be playing the next-gen games right now as we have all along. I feel like we’d all be more excited if Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo alike could do subsidized sales much like Steam and Humble Bundle. They just can’t keep up on price and technology, really. Speaking of which, Steam Winter Sale 2013 is coming and it will pwn Black Friday deals without the insanity! Also, SteamOS is bringing the PC to the living room in a big way.. GG.
Moving on, I will be streaming more League of Legends and random assorted flavors on Twitch. In fact, I am about to showcase Guardians of Middle-Earth for Steam. I love the XBox 360 version so this should be a treat. For those still stuck on the whole console business, read my article about Why The Next-Gen Gaming Consoles Are Unimpressive at yomar.me, y0.

Sexy update meets the world’s greatest puzzle adventure!
Yes, this is not mere marketing copy – Puzzle Quest just got better!
Release 42 brings Power Packs, which seem to be the collective updates described on the handy splash screen and mini release notes. The highlights of R42 include easier ability use through a new firing panel (instead of flashing tiles) and higher drop rates from missions. The full list of release notes can be found at d3pforums.com if you are curious.
Possibly the biggest tweak is the return of power training via the cache. This means you can train powers using cached covers. This feature is a must because it sucks when you have to grind for points or sell your covers to make room for your core team.
This update is very encouraging as it shows us Demiurge is catering to paying and non-paying players alike, which only makes us want to support the game further. Storage was the biggest issue for me and the increased mission drops now multiplies replay value threefold. If you have been away from PQ, now is the time to bring your toons back into action!
The sad part is that I dumped some copies of Iron Man Model 35 because I was at the power cap. When that happens, you need to level up your units, which gets increasingly more expensive at higher levels and higher rarities. Bag Man Spider-Man is another under-appreciated unit that I recommend holding on to. Using him with Hawkeye, Storm, Juggernaut, and/or Dark Avengers Black Widow is highly effective in missions where countdown tiles present huge threats. Be wary of high-level Muscle, Pyro, Grenadier, and Flamethrower types.. they really hurt!
Back to R42, the UI improvements are not just nice eye candy. The roughly 125MB update does a lot to improve the UX. The game glitches a lot less and the need to click/tap lots has been vastly reduced. This is a complete overhaul.. it’s something a big deal.
Now, let’s hope they bring back some lightning rounds because this three-star event sucks hairy donkey balls. Amirite?

Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is a puzzle fighting game much akin to Puzzle Figher. At first glance, people will think you are playing that horrribad, spammy game on Facebook called Candy Crush.. Or PopCap’s own Columns rip-off, Bejeweled. While this is another three-match puzzle game at heart, it’s differences are what make it truly shine.
First, here is the stuff that should be familiar or expected to most. Puzzle Quest is free to play but they monetize via the usual “pay to win”/”speed up your progression” value proposition. It is a social media enhanced game so sharing with and inviting friends does get you some loot. Paying players have an edge but the game is very balanced.
Now for the good stuff!
Puzzle Quest Virtual Economy And Core Mechanics
The standard format in Puzzle Quest is 3v3 but sometimes you will face one or two buffed-up opponents, like Venom, who can literally eat you whole if you are not careful. Damage is dealt by matching colors with higher values. The value or damage hits depend upon your team. If you assemble bruisers in your squad, color matches do more damage.
Color matches collect the tiles for AP (action/ability points) of the respective color. Typically, you need 6 or more of ay given color to really execute anything worthwhile. You will find that some heroes and villains have reduced AP costs the more you train those powers. For example, Venom’s stun, the Symbote Snare, costs 6 AP or less at higher levels.
To train powers, you can use matching covers or Hero Points. I do not recommend the latter as those points are best used for expanding your team size and cover storage (same thing). Hero Points are also hard to come by and ultimately cost money if you are in a pinch. You can only level up characters once their powers are trained. Each power level and rarity has it’s own level cap. The elusive isotope, ISO-8, is what you will typically use to level up your toons.
Sometimes, players will find themselves stuck. Fortunately, you can replay old missions to earn additional rewards. Some missions offer four distinct rewards but distribution is random. This means you will have to do some grinding.
Now, back to how damage is dealt.. Matching four of a color clears a lane and collects all AP in it. matching five or more earns you an extra move and massive opponent damage. Five-tile matches usually produce a critical tile, which increases damage dealt by 10-20% and serves as a wildcard.
As you can see, there is lots of depth here but there’s much more…

It’s time for a classic Yogizilla rant!
Summertime Amelia - Rage of Bahamut
The latest update released for the uber popular Rage of Bahamut game on Mobage proves that CyGames has no clue what they are doing.. and they have possibly gone retarded on us (no offense to those that have actual mental challenges and aren’t just plain stupid). For me, a guy that happens to love this game in spite of it’s growing pains, it almost seems like they are purposely trying to chase away gamers and lose money – it’s utter madness!
Rage of Bahamut got a significant update that gave the UI (graphical interface) a face-lift and forced annoying features on us while neglecting game mechanics and glaring issues the community has been very vocal about. On my Android-based Samsung Galaxy tablet, I am unable to exit the game easily and the background music comes back no matter how many times I turn it off. The foremost issue would be all right if I were able to jump right into the game any time but, instead, it times out and tells me pages are no available. Enter the force close.
These issues alone have been enough for me to quit other Mobage games but it gets better, I mean, worse. In an effort to monetize further, Cygames introduced a new currency system in Rage of Bahamut. This system is overly-complicated and provides real benefit to the users. The system involves tokens, souls, virtue points, card sacrifices, and some other crap.
Thanks but I’ll pass.

It’s that time again. That’s right: the time when you return to CoD just because you can level up faster (if you don’t boost like a lamer). Double XP weekend for Black Ops 2 starts Friday at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT. If you’re on on the East coast or West coast, the time will be somewhere in between. =oP
I’m sure this applies to all platforms but I hope to clock some hours doing clan ops and goofing around with my NoF brothers and sisters on XBox LIVE. Feel free to add me on XBL, Raptr, Steam, Twitter, and Twitch. My name’s Yogizilla all over the interwebz. Hopefully, everyone can pry themselves away from Diablo III and GTA V. Lulz
I should be streaming on the Official Yogizilla Twitch TV Channel to show off my epic newbness too. I’ve had a great response to my Scrolls and GTA V videos so I hope you will join us in the chat room. I will be checking into the chat room periodically but you can always ping me, Yogizila, on Twitter, which notifies me on my tablets and smartphone.
Happy Hunting, fellow XBLers!

Rage of Bahamut recently hit 6MM Users Worldwide! To celebrate, the elusive “Rage of Bahamut Management Team” sent every player a free SSR base card (that’s a base card for Legend, the highest rarity in the game). Pretty awesome!
Of course, us Rage vets know there is always a catch to Cygames’ generosity. Altiai is not a PWR 20-26 throwaway card but she’s not a superstar, either. I would compare her to Elven Queen with a much weaker skill. Base stats in FF (final form) are better than cards like Diana, Dark Angel Olivia, Saccharine Witch, or the completely laughable Queen Lucie (man realm base SR now selling for 4HP or less a pop) so it’s something.. Plus she has an event skill which is awesome!
The real catch is that Altiai can’t be traded or sold at all… EVER – not even on the bazaar! Yes, that means you have to work the Dragon’s Awakening stamina event hard and/or hope for lucky CP (Card Pack) draws.
In spite of the shortcomings, Cygames is beginning to show the community that they appreciate the business and our loyalty. We hope for more freebies like this. Who knows, maybe there will be another FREE ten-card super pack in the near future.. Hopefully before the next event!
BTW, Dragon’s Awakening is the return of the Castle In The Sky. Now we get to feed a dragon instead of a fairy. It’s a nice change of pace and the rewards have been great. Second half just started and we have until May 6th to score some phat loot.
Good luck, Ragers!!

I am back with a vengeance!
After wasting a good year with a startup called Social Prize and some bean-counting, vision-less partners, I have decided to return to my roots: gaming, writing, game design/development, and a little dose of cartooning. So much catching up to do! As of late, League of Legends has taken a backseat to Rage of Bahamut, where I have finally fully established the Nipples of Fate (N-o-F or “nawph”, for those new to this site). Now, I will say this straight-up: League of Legends is by far the better game but I go where my clanmates are and, well, all my LoL friends are slackers! LOL
Rage of Bahamut – The Mobile Game You Will Love And Hate!
I’ve been meaning to write a series of R.O.B. related posts with full reviews and wishlists in the mix (I’m a slacker too, apparently) but here is the skinny for now: Rage of Bahamut is a pseudo TCG where you buy or, if you’re lucky, obtain virtual cards to build powerful decks and battle other players or raid bosses. The game isn’t much to look at, is rather buggy, and can be frustrating for newbies but, once you get past all that, it is very satisfying.

We’re a little late to the party but don’t forget to download your FREE gamer pic and avatar item today!
XBox LIVE turned 10 years old officially on November 15th. This is a pretty big deal so Microsoft has several awesome (and some random) games available for 50% OFF for two days. That means tonight is it! Peggle, Castle Crashers, and other great games are up for grabs on the cheap now.
We’re disappointed that they’re no celebrating for longer but there is an opportunity to enter the sweepstakes/giveaway and possibly win one of the VERY limited edition XBox 360 console bundles. We reckon they may be similar to the bundles we saw in Europe back in February 2012.
For me, this is a positive social signal that Microsoft is not abandoning the XBox 360 just yet. Really, I’m not ready to commit to new hardware unless it’s new upgrades for my gaming PC.. Or a new laptop. LOL
In any case, here is a link to help ya out:
BTW, I met Major Nelson at the Halo 3 launch in NYC a few years back. Really cool guy and as down-to-earth as they come! Keep an eye on his blog and podcast. I’m sure more goodies are bound to come!
Yogizilla signing out for now!
